Sterile Processing Tech Advanced
Boulder Community Health is seeking an Advanced Sterile Processing Technician that is assigned full performance level duties responsible for decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments, hospital instruments, and medical equipment throughout the institution, utilizing infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process. Guides, mentors, and serves as a resource for Sterile Processing Technicians.
Job Description
- Responsible for decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Guides and mentors Sterile Processing Technicians.
- Provides asset management and support of surgical instruments and trays in accordance with health standards.
- Operates all required equipment and machinery accurately and safely.
- Prepares, assembles, and sterilizes instruments and supplies according to sterilization parameters.
- Maintains appropriate records and monitors quality control and infection control standards.
- Accurately handles and cares for instruments, ensuring proper function and cleanliness.
- Communicates with operating room personnel to provide required instruments.
- Maintains records regarding maintenance of instrumentation and equipment.
- Responsible for reporting damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Certification (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) is required; must currently hold one of these certifications.
- 1-2 years of experience working in a sterile processing department required.
- Extensive experience with sterilization techniques and processing instrumentation.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- OR Tech experience preferred.
- Computer experience preferred.
- Inventory experience preferred.
