Registered Nurse 1 - Hand and Upper Extremity Clinic

The Hand and Upper Extremity clinic is an amazing opportunity in a fast-paced environment. Staff are responsible for assisting the provider and directing the flow of the clinic. The staff provide nursing care to patients of all ages with surgical and nonsurgical conditions including trauma/fractures of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder.

Job Description

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum patient outcomes for patients of all ages as appropriate to service area.
• Complete age-specific admission and ongoing assessments, document them, and use them to develop a plan of care.
• Collaborate with members of the health care team, patients, and families to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care. Revise the plan according to changes in patient status.
• Accurately administer and document treatments and medications for patients of all ages utilizing automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
• Identify patient/family (caregiver) educational needs in a timely manner, incorporate them into the plan of care, implement them, and document appropriately.
• Consistently demonstrate the role of patient advocate, protector of patient's rights, and provider of psychological/social/cultural support.

Requirements

• Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing of an accredited college or graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.
• Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. Obtain CPR, and as needed ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications.
• Other: Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC). Successfully complete orientation and competency requirements. Meet essential job functions.
