    Certified Nursing Assistant

    Job Description

    • Perform resident care activities and related nursing services necessary in caring for the personal needs, safety, and comfort of residents as assigned.
    • Assist in providing a compassionate physical, social, and psychological environment, which will allow the resident to achieve the highest level of functioning.
    • Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, changing of bed linens, and positioning in and out of bed, chair, etc.
    • Assist and encourage participation in resident recreation programs.
    • Ensure residents are given the correct diet. Prepare residents for meals and snacks, assist residents in eating, providing appropriate utensils and assistance with meals as needed, recording food intake.
    • Read and follow the plan of care; perform assigned restorative and rehabilitative procedures; report changes in resident condition to the nurse in charge; document care provision on resident record/flow sheets as required.
    • Report all accidents and incidents immediately to the supervisor.
    • Promote and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, residents, visitors, volunteers, and regulators.
    • Directly respond, within their scope of practice, to needs and concerns of residents and family members.
    • Work with the caregiving team to identify and resolve resident and family issues.
    • Promptly respond to call lights and other resident needs.

    Requirements

    • Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the State.
    • Proficient in performing technical skills required of a nursing assistant.
    • Ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships through the use of tactful, direct, and sensitive interaction.
    • Must be able to communicate verbally in a positive and professional manner.
    • Must have the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish this job.
    • Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with others.
    • Must be able to comply with all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.
