Hospitalist

Job Description:

• Provide clinical care for patients admitted at affiliated hospitals
• Support surgical and specialty services through consultative general internal medicine practice
• Traditional Monday-Friday schedule and every 3rd weekend OR 22 shifts a month or BLOCK

Primary Functions:

• Responsible for the assessment, evaluation, and clinical management of patients in the acute facility
• Perform histories and physicals, conduct physical examinations
• Diagnose and actively manage patient conditions, including evaluation and treatment, and provide daily patient care
• Attend multi-disciplinary rounds at the site
• Order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic studies and laboratory tests
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including but not limited to suturing, wound care, incision and drainage, and splinting
• Prescribe or recommend pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including controlled medications
• Consult appropriate physician(s) for patient care needs
• Refer patients to appropriate sources of care as required
• Assure the efficient utilization of resources while supporting clinical pathway implementation and compliance
• Assure appropriate and timely referrals to a tertiary care facility as indicated by the patient care needs in consultation with the primary care physician or attending physician

Requirements:

• Doctorate degree in medicine (MD or DO)
• Completion of advanced graduate medical education in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible (IM or FP)
• Active FL medical license in good standing
• DEA license eligible/active
