Job Description
- Performs excellent patient care for all CT scans and X-rays.
- Quickly and accurately completes all paperwork to include orders, lab work, and authorization confirmation.
- Monitors the safety of patients pertaining to radiation and contrast dose.
- Examines orders and verifies requests on patients. Addresses any questionable orders to the Radiologist before procedures.
- Operates CT equipment with proficiency.
- Operates injector with proficiency.
- Operates X-ray equipment with proficiency.
- Records medical history on designated history form. Correlates test results and other lab data with the exam being performed.
- Performs IVs, gives patients oral contrast, and does lab work if needed.
- Monitors supplies/stock room.
- Communicates with the Radiologist for protocols as needed.
- Communicates with PACS/IT for imaging distribution if necessary.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology.
- ARRT certification.
- BLS certification.
- 1+ years of Radiology experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Must be able to perform procedures in accordance with the CR departmental protocols and standards.
- Operates CT scanners, X-ray equipment, IV contrast injectors, and O2 tanks.
- Computer literate and knowledgeable of CR programs.
- Must be up to date with local and federal regulations that apply to their licensure and role.
- Must be able to access all patient history to review any allergies that could interfere with the patient's test.
- Must be able to communicate with the Radiologist or referring MD if a protocol needs to be obtained or a test needs to be altered.
- Must be able to report malfunctioning equipment to the Radiology engineer.
- Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift the appropriate weight determined by CR (50-75 lbs.).
- Must have positive communication skills.
- Performs basic patient care functions and informs the Radiologist or nurse of any change in the patient's condition if needed.
- Must be competent with IVs.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Full day of walking and standing.
- Lifting more than 50 lbs.
