    Job Description

    • Provides non-professional routine nursing care to the residents in accordance with facility and state/federal guidelines.
    • Must be flexible in work assignments and willing to work in other areas during staffing emergencies.
    • Demonstrates ability to perform nursing assistant duties as assigned and plan/prioritize actions before starting resident cares.
    • Obtains pertinent information regarding residents.
    • Performs procedures to meet individual resident needs for daily hygiene and appearance, including bathing, grooming, shaving, oral cares, and nail care.
    • Demonstrates proper techniques of lifting, transferring, and ambulating residents.
    • Implements special care needs including incontinence cares, special skin care, catheter care, colostomy care, and turning/positioning techniques.
    • Performs restorative care and range of motion as instructed.
    • Assists with resident admissions, discharges, and room transfers as appropriate.
    • Encourages residents to take adequate diet, fluids, and supplements.
    • Recognizes physical distress and acts to provide relief for those residents.
    • Identifies and reports physical and psychological symptoms or spiritual needs to appropriate staff.
    • Allows residents the freedom of choice in details of daily living whenever possible.
    • Follows the resident plan of care and ensures resident rights are maintained at all times.
    • Reports any observed physical or verbal abuse to the supervisor immediately.
    • Participates in establishing and updating resident care plans and aide care sheets.
    • Encourages residents to participate in self-care as appropriate.
    • Assists residents with the application of prosthetics.
    • Performs vital signs and obtains resident heights and weights per schedule.
    • Provides diversional activities as appropriate to meet resident needs.
    • Cleans and sanitizes client areas, including changing bed sheets.
    • Demonstrates effective and respectful communication with residents, families, and team members.
    • Adheres to actions to assure resident and staff safety and demonstrates proper infection control procedures.
    • Complies with rules and regulations of regulatory and surveying agencies.
    • Maintains an active working relationship with the nursing team and ancillary departments.
    • Promotes customer satisfaction and positive interpersonal relationships.
    • Participates in giving and receiving report from the nurses.
    • Attends scheduled training seminars, meetings, and in-services as appropriate.
    • Follows work assignments and/or work schedules as assigned.
    • Practices good personal hygiene and adheres to facility dress code.
    • Assumes added duties as assigned by Charge Nurse and/or shift supervisor.
    • Stays up-to-date on CNA training, policies, and procedures.

    Requirements

    • Must be a graduate of an 80-120 hour nursing assistant course and registered to practice in the state of Wisconsin as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
    • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
    • Ability to think and work independently and with direction.
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
    • Must have no lifting or bending restrictions.
    • Previous experience in a health care facility is desired.
    • Good communication skills and bedside manner with a compassionate personality.
    • Willingness to work with all team players.
    • Must have an acceptable criminal background check.

    Physical Requirements

    • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
    • Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, and reach with hands and arms.
    • Manually lift 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

    Pay is $19.00-$25.00 per hour DOE. Shift differentials available on evening and overnight shifts.
