Director of Nursing
Join our team as the Director of Nursing (DON) at CCH-Hudson, where you will oversee the nursing department to ensure quality care for our residents. This position provides an opportunity to lead a dedicated team in a supportive environment.
Job Description
- Provide direct supervision to the entire nursing department, including all nurses, nursing assistants, staffing coordinator, nursing administrative assistant, Clinical Manager, and Health Information Management Coordinator/Medical Records.
- Responsible for the overall organization and administration of the Nursing Department to provide quality nursing care and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- On call once a week and every 4th weekend.
Essential Job Functions
- Oversee provision of 24-hour nursing care meeting all regulatory requirements.
- Establish objectives for the nursing department and organizational structure.
- Develop, implement, and revise nursing department policies and procedures.
- Interpret administrative policies and procedures to nursing personnel.
- Oversee and participate in recruitment, selection, and retention of nursing employees.
- Promote professional standards in nursing care, respecting residents' rights and maintaining confidentiality.
- Oversee completion of 90-day and annual job performance evaluations for all nursing personnel.
- Develop and update job descriptions for each category of nursing personnel.
- Oversee training and ongoing education programs for all nursing employees.
- Establish standards of performance for all nursing personnel.
- Initiate disciplinary action as necessary, up to and including termination.
- Determine staffing levels required to meet nursing needs of all residents.
- Direct staff appropriately in emergency or crisis situations.
- Collaborate with other departments in planning/coordinating resident programs.
- Oversee screening for all potential residents of Christian Community Home.
- Assure comprehensive care plans and MDS requirements are established, implemented, and updated per state/federal regulations.
- Direct/oversee behavioral care plan meetings.
- Work with outside agencies to establish beneficial programs for both the agencies and the facility.
- Interpret resident needs to the Administrator and assist in long-range planning and development of the nursing care program.
- Review all resident incident reports for necessary follow-up.
- Coordinate follow-up of all nursing employee incident reports with Human Resources Director.
- Assume responsibilities for the fiscal management of the nursing department.
- Oversee implementation of an ongoing, effective Infection Control program.
- Determine levels of care for residents and monitor for changes.
- Oversee continuous quality improvement studies of actual or potential concern areas.
- Oversee and evaluate products to promote resident and staff safety.
- Assure nursing schedules are posted at least two weeks in advance and meet staffing requirements.
- Participate as an active member of the Quality Assurance committee and leadership meetings.
- Facilitate harmonious interpersonal relationships with ancillary departments.
- Oversee investigation of resident complaints/potential abuse and take corrective action as appropriate.
- Follow all facility personnel policies.
- Assume responsibilities of the Administrator and Clinical Manager in their absence.
Requirements
- Must be a registered nurse currently licensed in Wisconsin.
- At least three (3) years of experience in nursing supervision.
- At least five (5) years of experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing.
- Experience with Medicare/Medicaid standards is desirable.
- Must be currently trained in Basic Life Support.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Must have an acceptable criminal background check.
Compensation
Pay scale for this position is $99,750-$115,500 per year, depending on experience.
