Laboratory Supervisor
Job Description:
- Meets the minimum CLIA qualifications of a Laboratory General Supervisor.
- Coordinates and manages day-to-day operations of specific sections and shifts.
- Serves in an administrative role with direct reports.
- Develops and implements new procedures, instrumentation, quality control, and reagent use.
- Responsible for development and maintenance of policies and procedures meeting regulatory standards.
- Ensures personnel accountability through performance reviews.
- Assists in orientation and development of personnel competencies.
Responsibilities:
- Provides day-to-day supervision of high, moderate, and waived complexity test performance.
- Accessible for technical problem consultation via on-site, telephone, or electronic means.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and standards.
- Plans, organizes, and coordinates work activities of assigned sections and shifts.
- Maintains accurate attendance records and time management for department associates.
- Assists in maintaining the laboratory budget and reporting on expense details.
- Develops and updates procedural manuals regularly.
- Enforces safety policies and procedures.
- Researches and implements new procedures and instrumentation.
- Maintains Quality Control Program and relevant records.
- Monitors test analyses to ensure acceptable performance levels.
- Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots equipment.
- Prepares and submits technical reports.
- Maintains inventory of necessary supplies and reagents.
- Trains new technologists and technicians.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
- Conducts in-service education for staff.
- Provides input on personnel management decisions.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant science or equivalent education.
- Five years of experience as a Medical Technologist or equivalent.
- Five years of primary experience in the specific section of responsibility.
- Certification or eligibility for relevant laboratory certifications.
