    Laboratory Technician

    Job Description:

    • Performs all routine and complicated laboratory procedures including specimen processing and handling.
    • Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
    • Cross-trains to other laboratory sections as needed.
    • Assures the laboratory's quality control program is properly followed.
    • Processes patient specimens, including collection and distribution.
    • Participates in the evaluation, development, and implementation of new testing procedures.
    • Adapts patient care methods to meet the unique physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of each patient.
    • Demonstrates adherence to the CORE values of CHRISTUS Health.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent laboratory training and experience.
    • Certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS.
    • No experience required for graduates of an approved clinical laboratory training program.

    Professional Development:

    • Louisiana requires State Licensure.
    • New Graduate must complete Board Certification within 1 year of hire.
