Laboratory Technician
Job Description:
- Performs all routine and complicated laboratory procedures including specimen processing and handling.
- Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Cross-trains to other laboratory sections as needed.
- Assures the laboratory's quality control program is properly followed.
- Processes patient specimens, including collection and distribution.
- Participates in the evaluation, development, and implementation of new testing procedures.
- Adapts patient care methods to meet the unique physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of each patient.
- Demonstrates adherence to the CORE values of CHRISTUS Health.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent laboratory training and experience.
- Certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS.
- No experience required for graduates of an approved clinical laboratory training program.
Professional Development:
- Louisiana requires State Licensure.
- New Graduate must complete Board Certification within 1 year of hire.
