Nurse

Job Description:

• Practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects in a similar clinical setting.
• Provides routine and complex care, focusing on long-range goals or plans.
• Makes appropriate assignments and delegates tasks to other care providers.

Responsibilities:

• Meets expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments using the appropriate protocol; monitors side-effects and effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers.

• Communicates findings to appropriate healthcare team members.
• Develops and modifies care plans using evidence-based practice.

Patient Throughput & Patient Flow Process:

• Plans for admission, discharge, and transfer needs to facilitate patient flow.
• Utilizes communication systems and tools for discharge processes.
• Coaches on tools and techniques for ensuring order accuracy.

Unit Operations:

• Plans, directs, and evaluates overall nursing care and functions during an assigned shift.
• Demonstrates good stewardship in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Assesses departmental staffing needs and participates in resourcing efforts.
• Educates and trains others on industry operations, ethics, and regulations.

Safe Practice/Quality Care/Regulations:

• Incorporates patient safety practices to promote a safe environment and positive outcomes.
• Demonstrates accountability for nursing research and quality improvement activities.
• Provides evidence-based nursing care.
• Communicates patient information effectively across the care continuum.
• Understands healthcare-related laws and regulations and complies with them.

• Ensures equipment is in proper working order for patient safety.

Patient Safety:

• Ensures safety for patient groups or settings.
• Responds to safety inquiries from patients and family members.
• Recognizes physiological and psychological signs of problems.
• Documents misses and participates in investigation and reporting.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.
• 1 year of experience in related nursing specialty preferred.
• BLS required.
• RN License in state of employment or compact.

• 7AM - 7PM
