Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
Job Description:
- Apply medical ultrasound in accordance with doctor's orders and within the scope of practice as defined by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and American Society Radiologic Technologists.
- Handle the movement, set-up, and operation of medical ultrasound equipment.
- Provide patient assessment information to the Radiologist as needed.
- Document procedural information in the patient's medical record including PACS.
- Trained in Basic Life Support and provide it when required.
Responsibilities:
- Meet expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Perform high-quality ultrasound procedures under minimal supervision using diagnostic ultrasound imaging equipment.
- Document calibration procedures for individual imaging equipment.
- Coordinate, organize, plan, and make quick decisions on emergent cases; evaluate and act to maintain efficiency and maximize productivity.
- Assist the Radiologist in performing invasive biopsy procedures using the Ultrasound system.
- Ensure that all procedures are accurately charged and submitted for correct billing.
- Maintain readiness of the Ultrasound room, supplies, equipment, and report any workflow issues.
- Adapt patient assessment to accommodate unique needs of each patient served.
- Demonstrate adherence to the CORE values.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Ultrasound Technology or other accepted and approved equivalent required.
- Minimum 1-year scanning experience in Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, and Breast Ultrasound preferred.
- ARDMS or ARRT/Sonography certification in Abdomen required within one year.
- LRST/ARRT Radiologic Technology License preferred.
- Certification in OB/GYN or Breast preferred.
- BLS required.
Work Schedule:
- 8AM - 5PM, Monday-Friday
