Surgical Tech job in Alexandria LA

Job Description:

• Responsible for preparing and passing instruments and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Establish and maintain the sterile field, pass instruments to the physician, and assist as directed.
• Use the physician preference card for setting up the OR.
• Ensure preference cards are up to date.
• Work effectively as a team member in patient care.
• Cooperate in team planning and execution.
• Maintain a safe environment using technical and aseptic practices.
• Demonstrate expertise in the use and care of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for safety.
• Monitor and control the surgical environment, including traffic control and sanitation.
• Familiar with policies regarding decontamination and sterilization of instruments.
• Perform patient care responsibilities meeting population-specific needs.
• Adapt patient care methods for unique physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 or more years of experience preferred.
• BLS required.
