Job Description:
- Responsible for performing diagnostic testing on patients such as fundus photography, OCTs, color vision testing, pachymetry, and visual fields.
- Assist Ophthalmologists and Optometrists by performing ophthalmic clinical functions, including patient work-ups and administering eye medications.
- Responsible for opening and closing the diagnostic area, maintaining equipment and rooms in working conditions.
- Perform tests based on a physician's orders including visual field testing (Humphrey), OCT testing (Heidelberg and Cirrus), fundus photography, external photography, corneal topography (Atlas and Pentacam), and color testing (Ishihara and D15).
- Timely and efficient transfer of test results into electronic medical records.
- Update patient records with a high level of proficiency within the EMS or other related systems.
- Comply with all HIPAA regulations in all interactions with patient information.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Travel:
- Travel may be required to help fulfill business needs.
Qualifications:
- Required: Minimum 1 year of customer service in the healthcare or service industry.
- Preferred: Minimum of one year in Ophthalmology, certification, and an associate degree.
Skills and Abilities:
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to perform manifest refraction is preferred.
- Ability to effectively multitask.
- Attentive to detail and accuracy.
- Desire and ability to learn new processes and procedures.
