Job Title: Ophthalmic Diagnostic Medical Technician

Job Description:

• Responsible for performing diagnostic testing on patients such as fundus photography, OCTs, color vision testing, pachymetry, and visual fields.
• Assist Ophthalmologists and Optometrists by performing ophthalmic clinical functions, including patient work-ups and administering eye medications.
• Responsible for opening and closing the diagnostic area, maintaining equipment and rooms in working conditions.
• Perform tests based on a physician's orders including visual field testing (Humphrey), OCT testing (Heidelberg and Cirrus), fundus photography, external photography, corneal topography (Atlas and Pentacam), and color testing (Ishihara and D15).
• Timely and efficient transfer of test results into electronic medical records.
• Update patient records with a high level of proficiency within the EMS or other related systems.
• Comply with all HIPAA regulations in all interactions with patient information.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Travel:

• Travel may be required to help fulfill business needs.

Qualifications:

• Required: Minimum 1 year of customer service in the healthcare or service industry.
• Preferred: Minimum of one year in Ophthalmology, certification, and an associate degree.

• Ability to perform manifest refraction is preferred.
• Ability to effectively multitask.
• Attentive to detail and accuracy.
• Desire and ability to learn new processes and procedures.
