Essential Functions:

• Administer and directly apply Speech Language Pathology treatment modalities as prescribed by a licensed physician.
• Perform patient assessment, establish plan of care, and prepare discharge plans.
• Evaluate effectiveness of treatment and modify as necessary.
• Assess educational and cultural needs of the patient, family, caregiver, or significant other and communicate accordingly.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary team on patient needs, dietary requirements, treatment modifications, and progress.
• Use age-specific standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines to perform treatments and procedures.
• Complete patient documentation in a thorough, timely, and efficient manner.
• Provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Maintain regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.

Requirements:

• Two years of direct patient care experience in a rehabilitation hospital setting preferred.
• Current state licensure in Speech Language Pathology.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA or Clinical Fellowship Year status or equivalent preferred.
• Basic Life Support/CPR card required.

Physical Requirements:

• Significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods.
• Both gross and precise motor functions.
• Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs.
• Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
• Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care.
• Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment.
• Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard.
• Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
