Job Description:

Essential Functions:
- Administer and directly apply Speech Language Pathology treatment modalities as prescribed by a licensed physician.
- Perform patient assessment, establish plan of care, and prepare discharge plans.
- Evaluate effectiveness of treatment and modify as necessary.
- Assess educational and cultural needs of the patient, family, caregiver, or significant other and communicate accordingly.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary team on patient needs, dietary requirements, treatment modifications, and progress.
- Use age-specific standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines to perform treatments and procedures.
- Complete patient documentation in a thorough, timely, and efficient manner.
- Provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Maintain regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.
Requirements:
- Two years of direct patient care experience in a rehabilitation hospital setting preferred.
- Current state licensure in Speech Language Pathology.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA or Clinical Fellowship Year status or equivalent preferred.
- Basic Life Support/CPR card required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of current principles and practice of Speech Pathology.
- Demonstrate competency in the provision of care according to established standards.
- Demonstrate appropriate application of age-specific standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrate understanding of treatment costs and financial support as they relate to quality and efficiency.
- Demonstrate general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.

Physical Requirements:
- Significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods.
- Both gross and precise motor functions.
- Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs.
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
- Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care.
- Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard.
