About the job
Family Medicine with Obstetrics Physician
Seeking a BE/BC Family Medicine with Obstetrics Physician to join a rural health clinic in a coastal Oregon town, an hour west of Salem, that has been providing care to the community for almost 50 years.
Job Description
- Work alongside 1 other MD on staff
- Must be interested in seeing children and women's health cases, in addition to family medicine
- Outpatient only - not much OB work in the hospital; there is a small hospital in town that has an ER, surgeon, radiology, etc. that patients are referred to
- EMR: PracticeFusion
- Currently seeing 8-15 patients per day, 100 per week but always have more people wanting to be seen, providing plenty of opportunities for a higher level of patient care if desired
- Mostly adult/geriatric population, but do see children as well; there is no nursing home in town, so someone with a desire to help the geriatric population is highly desired
- Dermatology and Hematology Oncology providers rent space to provide care 1-2 times per month
- Clinic is affiliated with area mental health providers, along with a social worker and therapist available on-site a couple of days a week
- Area has a high population of Spanish-speaking individuals, so if you speak Spanish, you will have a high number of new patients in that population
Compensation & Benefits
- This is a pay-for-service model; salary is a very wide range depending on how much work you want to do - the more patients you see, the more you make
- Clinic gets RHC rate for Medicare, certified PCPCH, and takes major medical insurance
- Very high number of CDLs, so a practitioner certified or wanting to be certified in that will have more income opportunities
- Part of the Oregon student loan assistance program
Community Overview
This beautiful city is an artsy enclave on the coast with world-class kite festivals that draw thousands in the summer. Local glass blowers create distinctive and colorful glass floats, which are then hidden along the shoreline for beachcombers. In the midst of beautiful Oregon coastal forests, several nearby hikes are also breathtaking. Drift Creek Falls features a surprising scene in the middle of the woods: a 100-foot high suspension bridge over a 75-foot waterfall with Drift Creek below. On the edge of the Pacific, the wide-open trails at Cascade Head lead to panoramic views of Lincoln City’s coast, as well as Devil’s Lake and Cape Foulweather further out. Devil’s Lake and Siletz Bay provide large swaths of sheltered, open water for fishing, water sports, and swimming.
The local public school district serves about 5,500 students from Kindergarten through 12th grade in 11 regular schools and 3 public charter schools, with a total of approximately 600 employees. Higher education is just a short drive away - 1 hour to Salem and 2 hours to Portland. Other nearby cities include: Depoe Bay - 12 miles, Pacific City - 22 miles, Newport - 25 miles, Tillamook - 43 miles, Dallas - 48 miles, and Corvallis - 75 miles.
