Job Description
- Perform clinic-related activities and administrative duties in cooperation with the department director and other clinic physicians.
- Oversee assessment and improvement plans and summarize clinic performance.
- Report to the medical staff on pertinent clinical aspects of the clinic's performance.
- Advise the clinic director and act as a liaison to the medical staff, committees, patients, and others.
- Ensure that care meets or exceeds accepted standards of medical competence and is in accordance with approved methods of practice.
- Exercise independent professional judgment regarding care and treatment of all patients.
- Conduct professional services in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, ethical standards, and licensure requirements.
- Fulfill all duties required by the Bylaws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and practices of the medical staff.
- Comply with employee policies and procedures and cooperate in establishing work schedules.
- Document medical care provided in accordance with policy and Medical Staff Bylaws/Rules and Regulations.
- Maintain appropriate medical records and charts for all patients, ensuring timely completion.
- Attend medical staff and committee meetings as required.
- Accept patients regardless of payment source, including Medicaid and Medicare patients.
- Provide continuous care for patients or arrange for care during absence.
- Assist other staff willingly.
Administrative Activities
- Remain an active member of the medical staff.
- Work with administration and/or the clinic director to integrate services into the organization's primary functions.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services in the clinic.
- Assess and improve performance of care and services provided.
- Maintain quality control programs and provide continuing education for clinic personnel.
- Participate in the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the clinic.
Personal Activities
- Adjust personal schedule to meet clinic needs as necessary to complete workload.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality of information in accordance with hospital policies.
- Present a professional appearance and demeanor.
Communication Activities
- Refer problems to and seek assistance from proper authority.
- Communicate effectively with physicians to develop support for departmental programs.
Customer Activities
- Demonstrate understanding that patients, visitors, physicians, and other hospital staff are customers.
- Manage customer relations effectively.
