Lead Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist
Lead Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist perform tests on blood and body fluids to determine the presence or absence of disease, monitor response to treatment, and aid in health maintenance. The lead is responsible for ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and review of quality control and proficiency testing as directed from technical supervisors. The lead is responsible for daily workflow management and works with the supervisor to ensure policies, procedures, and personnel are appropriate. Responsible to use critical thinking and clinical knowledge to assess questionable results and correlate with clinical information to determine accuracy.
Job Description
- Perform tests on blood and body fluids to determine the presence or absence of disease, monitor response to treatment, and aid in health maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and review quality control and proficiency testing as directed from technical supervisors.
- Manage daily workflow and work with the supervisor to ensure policies, procedures, and personnel are appropriate.
- Use critical thinking and clinical knowledge to assess questionable results and correlate with clinical information to determine accuracy.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree must be obtained within 90 days OR High School Diploma or equivalent AND Grandfathered status under CLIA Regulations.
- Experience: Preferred at least 1 year related experience.
- Skills: Strong analytical/problem-solving skills; ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management; demonstrates clear verbal and written communication; excellent time management, interpersonal, presentation, organization, prioritizing, decision-making, and planning skills; knowledge of current information technology; ability to lead project teams to accomplish automation projects of large size and complexity; proficient in all Microsoft programs; high level proficiency in Excel.
- Licensure/Certification/Registration: Required: Certified as a Medical Technologist (ASCP)/Clinical Laboratory Scientist from a nationally recognized laboratory certifying agency or eligible to sit for exam at time of hire; must obtain ASCP within 90 days of hire.
