Job Description
- Responsible for reviewing patient lab values, medications, and physical assessments (BMI, body fat %) to make diet and medication recommendations to physicians, patients, and/or caregivers.
- Follow up with patients, educate patients and/or caregivers, and document interactions.
- Assist in quality assessment audits, in-service and community education programs, and participate in interdisciplinary teams for care planning and quality improvement as required by regulatory bodies.
- Advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.
- Weekend responsibilities for provider call coverage in collaboration with external partners to provide education for new pediatric diagnoses of diabetes.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited Food and Nutrition or Dietetics Program.
- Experience: Completion of an American Dietetics Association (ADA) approved internship or coordinated undergraduate program preferred; clinical medical office experience preferred; pediatric experience preferred.
- Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to work independently and collaboratively in teams; proficient computer skills; successful completion of all department-specific credentialing within the first 90 days of employment.
- Licensure/Certification/Registration: Licensed in the State of Missouri as a Registered Dietitian; Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) within 18 months of hire preferred.
