Job Description
- The APP will work in collaboration with the hospital physicians to manage care for patients with stable and chronic illnesses.
- Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports to collaborate with physician to develop an individualized plan of care for each patient.
- Prescribe medications and make recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment.
- Assist with planning and coordinating rehabilitation, home health care, and follow-up services for those patients with acute health issues.
- During the typical night, the APP will round on the units to check on patients, take calls from the floors for any needs that arise, which includes the ICU with backup from an on-call pulmonologist and eICU.
- Assist with new admissions throughout the night.
- Attend all rapid responses and code blues that occur throughout the night.
Qualifications
- Applicant must be an APRN or PA.
- No prior experience required.
- Preferred: 1-2 years of experience.
- Licensure: MO license, BLS, ACLS.
Staffing Model
- Day shift providers: 4 teams 6a-6p, with one swing provider helping with admissions from 11-9.
- 2 Nocturnists rotating 7 on, 7 off.
- 2 day shift APPs rotating 7 on, 7 off.
- 2 night shift APPs rotating 7 on, 7 off.
Patient Volume
- The average daily census for the hospitalist is 80, with an average of 8 admissions a night (range of 3 to 15).
