Cardiothoracic Surgeon

The Surgery Service at James A. Haley VA Medical Center invites applications for a full-time, board-certified/eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeon. This is a permanent, on-site role combining operative and non-operative patient care with academic responsibilities, including teaching medical students and residents.

Job Description

• Provide a full spectrum of operative and non-operative cardiothoracic care, including but not limited to:
  • Coronary revascularization, valve repair/replacement, aortic aneurysm/root repair, redo surgeries
  • Minimally invasive cardiac surgery, TAVR, maze procedures
• Prescribe lab tests, diagnostics, therapies as per clinical guidelines
• Participate in teaching and mentoring trainees
• Provide on-call coverage (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays)
• Adhere to VHA and VA medical standards in all care delivery

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship (or eligible non-citizens under specific VA policy)
• MD or DO from an accredited institution
• Completion of ACGME/AOA-approved cardiac surgery residency (or equivalent with 5 years US practice)
• Board certification or eligibility in Thoracic/Cardiovascular Surgery
• Unrestricted state medical license
• English proficiency, good health, and physical capability for surgical duties
