Deputy Chief of Staff
The James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa, Florida, is seeking a Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) to join its leadership team. This senior medical executive role includes serving as the lead physician over Ambulatory Care, Mental Health & Behavioral Science, Spinal Cord Injury, Dental, Geriatrics and Extended Care, Pharmacy, Audiology and Speech Pathology, and Radiation Oncology and reports directly to the Director and Chief of Staff (COS) and serves as a key clinical advisor to the Healthcare System Director.
As a member of the senior management team, the Deputy Chief of Staff is a key advisor to the Chief of Staff and Director on clinical issues and assists in the administration and oversight of the assigned clinical programs. In the absence of the COS, the DCOS will serve as Acting COS including assisting transfer coordinators and outside facilities when needed to effectively coordinate inpatient transfers and shared medical care. The DCOS supervises a wide variety of professional and administrative staff; serving on a broad spectrum of medical center committees and workgroups; providing hands-on clinical work; and providing oversight and administration of all aspects of patient care.
Job Description
- Clinical Oversight: Lead and oversee services including Ambulatory Care, Mental Health & Behavioral Science, Spinal Cord Injury, Dental, Geriatrics and Extended Care, Pharmacy, Audiology and Speech Pathology, and Radiation Oncology.
- Administrative Leadership: Assist in the administration and oversight of assigned clinical programs, serving as Acting Chief of Staff in their absence.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with service line leaders to set performance standards, formulate strategic plans, and implement policies to improve patient care and operational efficiency.
- Quality Improvement: Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory standards.
- Education and Research: Work closely with academic affiliates and facilitate the translation of research findings into improved patient outcomes.
Compensation Information
Details: Education and length of practice are considered through a formal pay-setting process to determine the final compensable salary (Base Pay + Market Pay).
