    Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician

    The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician to join our Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Lynchburg, VA.     Job Description

    • Clinic Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
    • No nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call duties
    • Team Composition: Currently staffed with 3 Advanced Practice Providers and 1 physician vacancy
    • Panel Size: Up to 1,200 patients (90% panel fill typical)
    • Patient Load: Start with 4 to 6 patients/day, building to 8 to 12/day
    • Appointment Length: 30 minutes for established patients, 60 minutes for new patients
    • Admin Time: 10 hours of protected administrative time weekly, primarily on Wednesday afternoons
    • Patient Population: Adult primary care with internal medicine/geriatric focus; high proportion of elderly Veterans with chronic conditions

    Clinic Services and Resources

    • Onsite mental health, clinical pharmacy, social work, and physical therapy
    • Rotating specialty support (cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, podiatry)
    • Send-out lab services (shuttled to Salem VA Medical Center)
    • Home-Based Primary Care program
    • Access to Salem VAMC (approx. 1-hour drive) for specialty care

    Ideal Candidate

    • Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician with interest or experience in geriatrics
    • Comfortable managing complex chronic disease in an adult population
    • Team-oriented, mission-driven, and committed to providing high-quality Veteran care
    • Preference for a female physician to support women's health needs (1 to 2 days per month of annual exams)
