Emergency Department Physician

The WJB Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, SC is seeking a full-time physician for our Emergency Department. In addition to the excellent benefits of federal government employment, we offer flexible work schedules of 40 hours per week, or 80 hours per two-week pay period.

Job Description

• Perform clinical duties in the 10 bed Emergency Department, which operates 24/7 for the 17,500 patients seen annually.
• Work alongside an associated urgent care staffed by one physician and three Nurse Practitioners that sees approximately 13,500 additional patients.
• Maintain proficiency in critical care skills, including central line placement and intubations.
• Handle mostly medical cases with very little trauma.

Requirements

• Current ACLS certification is required.
• Board Certified/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine or Internal Medicine/Family Medicine with Emergency Room experience is preferred.
• Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery.
• Proficient in spoken and written English.
• Must be a citizen of the United States.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

Salary Information

• Salary range: Up to $240,000 per year.
• Recruitment/relocation incentives may be authorized for a highly qualified candidate.
• Relocation expenses are authorized for this position. The Department of Veterans Affairs offers Permanent Change of Station (PCS) relocation services.
