    Mammography Technologist

    Join our team as a Mammography Technologist, where you will play a vital role in performing screening and diagnostic mammography procedures. This position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment while ensuring patient confidentiality and care.

    Job Description

    • Perform a variety of technical activities associated with screening and diagnostic mammography procedures.
    • Respond to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures while maintaining confidentiality.
    • Operate mammographic equipment and position patients correctly for scans.
    • Evaluate images for diagnostic quality and obtain additional images as needed.
    • Prepare medical supplies using aseptic techniques and explain procedures to patients.
    • Provide orientation and education to new and student mammographers.
    • Monitor patients' well-being during exams and take appropriate action if discomfort or medical problems arise.
    • Use ALARA principles to minimize patient radiation doses and document any over-exposure.
    • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure the integrity of medical images while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
    • Assist radiologists with stereotactic breast biopsies and other interventional procedures as needed.
    • Keep exam rooms clean and properly stocked with supplies.
    • Communicate delays or changes in the schedule to the appropriate personnel.
    • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly quality control testing related to mammography.
    • Participate in projects and complete other tasks as assigned by management.

    Requirements

    • Must have current ARRT(R) certification and state licenses in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology and Mammographic Radiologic Technology.
    • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
    • BLS (Basic Life Support Certification) is required.
    • Ability to relate to the public in a professional manner, regardless of background.
    • Familiarity with specialized equipment and ability to respond to emergency situations calmly.
    • Excellent customer service skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail.

    Quality Standards

    • Uphold company policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
    • Maintain CEUs and licensing as needed to ensure high technical skill levels.
    • Follow OSHA regulations, site protocols, and HIPAA standards at all times.

    Physical Demands

    • This position often requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, and lifting over 50 pounds occasionally.
    • Employees must assist as members of a lift assistance team for patients requiring help.

    Working Environment

    Technologists work in an outpatient medical office setting with low to moderate noise levels and may also work on a mobile mammography coach.

    Pay Range

    USD $50.00 - USD $70.00 per hour

    Mornings, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm
