Job Description
- Under the direction of the Clinic Administrator, responsible for the clinical management of the dialysis unit and the supervision of all nursing personnel to ensure safe dialysis treatment for all patients.
- Direct nursing care in the dialysis facility in accordance with DCI's policies and procedures, Network/IPRO, OSHA, CMS, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Perform duties as a Dialysis Hospital Services Nurse.
- Supervise and monitor direct patient care provided by PCTs, LPNs, and RNs including initiating, monitoring, and terminating dialysis treatments as well as physical assessment of patients.
- Monitor overall performance and clinical outcomes for the facility in collaboration with the Medical Director and Clinic Administrator.
- Review patient flow sheets at the end of the day and conduct spot checks during the day; verify documentation accuracy for decreased blood flow rates, other prescription changes, early discontinuation, and fluctuations in blood pressure with notification to charge nurse.
- Audit flowsheets to ensure transcription and implementation of Physician's orders is completed.
- Participate in QAPI and support outcome management through appropriate action plans.
- Collaborate with the Clinic Administrator for patient care staffing, matching patient needs with staff capabilities and experiences to maximize staffing resources.
- Collaborate with the Clinic Administrator on the scheduling of patients to ensure all patients are treated in a timely manner.
- Assist in the teaching and training of new staff members as directed by the Nurse Educator.
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert and assist nurse educator with training for staff in all clinical systems.
- Ensure vascular access management for the patients is documented as needed.
Requirements
- Maintain a current CA license as a registered nurse.
- Completion from an accredited Registered Nursing Program.
- 2 years' experience in a dialysis setting.
- Experience in critical care nursing is preferred.
- Experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
