    Job Description:

    • Provide and coordinate education support for service line staff
    • Offer service line specific professional development under the supervision of the Director of Professional Development & Practice
    • Ensure effective and efficient implementation of key educational processes at the unit level
    • Assist in implementing designated centralized components of key educational processes
    • Lead organizational change, orientation, and annual competence assessment
    • Develop preceptor programs and conduct required ongoing training
    • Facilitate patient education, student affiliations, and promote evidence-based practice

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and document age/population appropriate patient care
    • Design, implement, and evaluate a cost-effective unit-based orientation process
    • Develop preceptors and coordinate the annual assessment of high-risk skills
    • Conduct required training to close performance gaps in knowledge and skills
    • Implement a unit-based plan for advancing staff competence across all shifts
    • Coordinate unit-based clinical experience for students
    • Facilitate the unit-based PI process
    • Provide administrative support for unit-based operations

    Requirements:

    • Current RN license in the State of Texas
    • Minimum Bachelor's degree in nursing required; MSN or equivalent preferred
    • Broad knowledge of nursing functions and specific knowledge of patient care activities
    • Five years of clinical nursing experience, with two years as a preceptor preferred
    • Education and/or presentation skills preferred

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

    • Current RN Texas license
    • Basic Life Support Provider
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (if applicable to unit)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider (if applicable to unit)
    • BLS and/or ALS Instructor status as appropriate within 1 year of employment
    • Specialty certification in clinical area and/or professional development required upon reaching eligibility
