    School Nurse

    The Eden School is currently seeking a full-time School Nurse to provide medical support and training to school staff as it relates to the medical needs of the students. This role involves maintaining files and providing nursing care within our private school for students ages 3-21 with autism spectrum disorder.

    Job Description

    • Administer medication/treatment when necessary for students that attend school according to district boards of education policy.
    • Conduct physical assessments of every student to determine wellness.
    • Care for sick and injured pupils and arrange for appropriate courses of action.
    • Assist with physical examinations for sports participants, working paper applicants, and child study team referrals.
    • Maintain student health records, including medication history.
    • Maintain records of annual physical examinations for all employees.
    • Assist with annual Blood Borne Pathogens in-service.
    • Maintain appropriate first aid supplies in the school building and in the vans.
    • Conduct CPR training for staff as needed.
    • Annually conduct audiometric screenings for all students in conjunction with the Speech and Language Department.
    • Conduct bi-annual vision screenings on all pupils.
    • Provide special health care and related services to meet the needs of students.
    • Review immunization records for all students.
    • Maintain compliance with Department of Education guidelines.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of an RN required.
    • School Nurse certification preferred.
    • 2 years' nursing experience.
    • Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.
    • CPR/AED certified.

    • Demonstrated ability to analyze an issue or problem and make recommendations for an effective and efficient resolution.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent presentation skills.
    • Proven commitment to providing excellent customer service within all dimensions of the job duties on a consistent basis.
    • Willingness to travel on a regular basis (primarily local).
