    Join our dynamic 400-bed hospital serving a vibrant community with approximately 50,000 annual ER visits and 20,000 pediatric visits. Our cardiac surgery program is experiencing significant growth, creating an exciting opportunity for a skilled surgeon to contribute to its expansion and long-term success. We are seeking a dedicated Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgeon to join our team on an initial locum tenens basis, with a strong pathway to permanent employment for the right candidate. This role is ideal for physicians who are open to starting in a flexible locum capacity while evaluating the potential for a full-time commitment. As part of our growing cardiac surgery program, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care, advancing surgical innovations, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

    Job Description

    • Perform a full range of cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures, including but not limited to coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repairs/replacements, aortic surgeries, lung resections, and minimally invasive techniques.
    • Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative care, including patient consultations, surgical planning, and follow-up management.
    • Collaborate with cardiologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
    • Participate in on-call rotations, emergency surgeries, and program development initiatives to support the expansion of our cardiac services.
    • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to all hospital protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

    Requirements

    • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular and/or Thoracic Surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS) or equivalent.
    • Fellowship trained in Cardiovascular and/or Thoracic Surgery from an accredited program.
    • Demonstrated experience in performing cardiac and thoracic surgeries, with a strong track record of successful outcomes.
    • Active, unrestricted medical license (or eligibility to obtain one) in the state of Florida.
    • Willingness to start in a locum tenens role with serious consideration for transitioning to permanent placement.
    • Experience in a high-volume cardiac surgery program, including exposure to pediatric cases.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships in a growing program.
