Veterinary Technician - ER & Critical Care (Overnights)
At SAGE Redwood City, we are dedicated to providing advanced, compassionate, and collaborative veterinary care. Our Emergency and Critical Care team delivers specialized, 24/7 treatment to patients requiring intensive monitoring and life-saving interventions.
We're looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Senior Veterinary Assistant to join our team and make a meaningful impact in emergency and critical care.
Job Description
- Triage incoming patients
- Obtain and record patient histories and SOAP notes
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients, ensuring ongoing evaluation and monitoring
- Perform and oversee advanced hospitalization procedures and continuous rate infusions (CRIs)
- Conduct in-house laboratory diagnostics
- Place intravenous (IV) catheters with proficiency
- Accurately document and perform detailed patient rounds
- Safely handle and restrain fractious or anxious patients
- Monitor and record vital signs (TPR) and maintain thorough medical records
- Recognize and respond to urgent situations requiring immediate veterinary intervention
- Advocate for both the patient and client, ensuring excellent communication and compassionate care
Requirements
- High school diploma required
- RVT certification OR a minimum of 3 years of consecutive Veterinary Assistant experience in an ER/CCU setting
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations for drug dosages, CRIs, invoices, and estimates
- California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) required within 60 days of hire (waived for CA-RVTs)
Compensation
- Hourly compensation: $25 - $40 hourly + $5 overnight differential
- Sign-On Bonus: Up to $7,000 for RVTs; Up to $5,000 for experienced Vet Assistants
Work Schedule
- Full-time, 4/10 schedule
- Overnight shifts with $5/hour differential
- Some weekends and holidays required
