Speech Therapist

Location: New York City

Job Description:

• Conduct home visits to provide services to patients with speech and language problems.
• Assess patient's speech and language abilities and deficits.
• Prepare initial assessments and perform periodic reassessments.
• Develop a plan of care in accordance with the authorized practitioner's plan of treatment and agency policies.
• Provide rehabilitative services for speech and language disorders to meet established treatment goals.
• Select and use appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and materials.
• Document type of treatment and patient's response on designated clinical progress notes.
• Complete case conferences, prepare discharge summaries, and complete documentation as required.
• Instruct health care personnel, patients, and caretakers in home therapy programs.
• Collaborate with other health care team members to ensure continuous coordination.
• Participate in inter-disciplinary and case conferences, staff meetings, and in-service programs.

Requirements:

• Master's degree and certification of clinical competence in speech pathology granted by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
• License and current registration to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist in New York State.
• Preferred: One year of supervised institutional experience and one year of home care experience.
• Meet state health status requirements.
