    Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician

    Family Health Centers is seeking to hire a part-time or full-time Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician to join our team at our Diamond Neighborhoods clinic in San Diego.

    Job Description

    • Performs initial assessments for assigned patients with developmental and behavioral difficulties.
    • Administers autism diagnostic testing such as Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) test or other tools as appropriate. This includes an intake for compiling all pertinent history, observation, behavioral assessment, completing a report, and a follow-up visit for sharing findings with the family.
    • May conduct other age-appropriate testing based on the child's identified needs.
    • Participates in the development of patients' individualized care plans in a timely and thorough manner.
    • Makes treatment recommendations based on interpretation of assessment findings. Is knowledgeable about both internal and external resources the family may need.
    • Works effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team. Communicates with providers, other physicians, case managers, scheduling staff, referring providers, and outside agencies and authorities in a timely and appropriate manner when needed. Connects patients to internal/external resources as appropriate; documents a clear plan of care including referrals.
    • Documents the need for referrals and works with appropriate clinic personnel responsible for guiding families through internal/external referrals.
    • Completes all required documentation accurately, timely, and thoroughly in accordance with department standards and electronic medical record requirements, complying with patients' insurance requirements.
    • Follows FHCSD policies and procedures, including cooperating with the timely submission of credentialing and licensing paperwork; maintaining BLS certification; maintaining CME units based on the requirements of the specifying Board; attending all mandatory meetings; minimizing incident reports; using resources efficiently and providing services in a cost-effective manner.
    • Maintains FHCSD behavioral standards, including effective listening and communication skills and respectful interactions with colleagues and patients.
    • Complies with productivity expectations.
    • Meets clinic site and organization needs in a reliable and flexible manner; prioritizes work and makes an effort to adhere to schedule.
    • Participates in administrative duties, including lab reports, charts, and medication refills reviewed and managed appropriately.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County. Driver requirements: Requires an active Class C California driver's license, proof of liability insurance at $100,000 on the vehicle used. No more than 2 points in the past 12 months; no suspensions in the last 2 years for moving violations; no DUI, reckless or felony driving within 5 years. No license revocation in 7 years.
    • Graduated from an accredited school of medicine.
    • Three years of residency training in pediatrics.
    • Board certification in pediatrics.
    • Additional subspecialty training in developmental-behavioral evaluations and assessments.
    • Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
    • DEA license.
    • Must possess a current unrestricted license to practice in the State of California.
    • Training certification in developmental/behavioral assessment and evaluation for autism.

    Experience/Specialized Skills

    • At a minimum, 1-year experience required; experience with underserved, low-income persons, or homeless persons preferred.
    • Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse social, cultural, and economic groups.
    • Basic computer literacy ability to comply with department needs and expectations (i.e., electronic medical record documentation).
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) capabilities strongly desired.
    • Cultural and linguistic sensitivity to populations served required.
    • Knowledge of and ability to take a detailed medical history.
    • Must possess a demonstrated commitment to community medicine.
