Audiologist for Veterans' Disability Assessments
Location: Sacramento, CA
Job Description:
- Review pertinent medical history documentation and provide one-time, non-treatment compensation and pension exams for Veterans.
- Capture responses during the exam through a web-based examination form; all documentation will be completed electronically.
- Electronically document the exam findings required by the VA through the web portal based on questions presented in the disability benefits questionnaires and medical opinions requested by the Veterans Affairs Regional Office.
- Perform Disability Assessments on Veterans without treating or prescribing medication or hearing aids.
- Administer and interpret audiological tests including puretone threshold testing, speech recognition testing, Strenger testing, acoustic immittance testing, and bone conduction testing.
- Prepare related reports, maintain, and sanitize the audiological suite, materials, and supplies.
- Complete appropriate Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQ) and Medical Opinions (MO) through the Electronic Medical Records System (EMR) during the exam and provide necessary documentation to the VA.
- Explain the exam process to the veteran and confirm the claimed conditions with the veteran.
- Complete chart and submit exam within 24-48 hours after the exam is completed.
- Follow appropriate and applicable protocol if behavioral health or medical emergencies occur.
- Commitment to serving Veterans, including those with service animals, ensuring they are not refused service.

Requirements:
- A Doctor of Audiology degree (Au.D)
- Master's degree or doctorate degree from a university accredited by ACAE, CAA, or ASHA Certification.
- Manual dexterity to calibrate equipment.
- Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and using EMR and platforms.
- Ability to perform focused evaluations on all bodily systems.
- Skilled in professional communication, critical thinking, and informed-care decision making.
- Works independently and can manage time to provide quality service while meeting set deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in clinical settings.
- Prior VA or C&P experience.
