    Audiologist - Disability Assessments

    Location: Dothan, Alabama

    Job Description:

    • Review pertinent medical history documentation and provide one-time, non-treatment compensation and pension exams for Veterans.
    • Capture responses during the exam through a web-based examination form; all documentation will be completed electronically.
    • Document exam findings required by the VA through the web portal based on questions presented in the disability benefits questionnaires and medical opinions requested by the Veterans Affairs Regional Office.
    • Perform Disability Assessments on Veterans without providing treatment or prescribing medication or hearing aids.

    Responsibilities:

    • Administer and interpret audiological tests, including puretone threshold testing, speech recognition testing, Strenger testing, acoustic immittance testing, and bone conduction testing.
    • Prepare related reports, maintain, and sanitize the audiological suite, materials, and supplies.
    • Read Order requests, including remarks, questions, directions, or requests for opinion; thorough review of medical history including service records and previous exams, and refuting previous medical opinions.
    • Occasionally remove soft cerumen.
    • Complete appropriate Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQ) and Medical Opinions (MO) through the Electronic Medical Records System (EMR) and provide necessary documentation to the VA.
    • Explain the exam process to the veteran and confirm the claimed conditions with the veteran.
    • Complete chart and submit exam within 24-48 hours after completion.
    • Follow appropriate protocol if behavioral health or medical emergencies occur.
    • Commit to serving Veterans, including those with service animals.

    Requirements:

    Schedule and Compensation:

    • Part-time position.
    • Pay: From $450.00 per day.
    • Expected hours: 24 per week.
    • Schedule: 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday.

    Relocation:

    • Ability to relocate to Dothan, AL 36303 before starting work (Required).
