Emergency Clinical Assistant PASNAP - Full Time Overnights
Join our team as an Emergency Clinical Assistant in Scranton, Pennsylvania. This full-time overnight position is part of the GCMC Emergency Medicine Team, where you will perform basic patient care under the supervision of the emergency room physician or registered nurse. You will help maintain a patient-centered care environment consistent with our policies, procedures, and practices.
Job Description
- Triages patient care by identifying, observing, and documenting the physical needs of the patient and families.
- Reports changes in patient condition to Registered Nurse.
- Assists patient care staff by performing procedures such as phlebotomy, wound care and splinting, EKGs, care and removal of indwelling Foley catheters, and insertion and care of intravenous catheters.
- Provides patient care related to rehabilitation to carry out multidisciplinary care plans for each patient.
- Provides unit desk clerk functions when needed.
- Obtains and maintains the integrity of specimens in accordance with policy and procedure, according to physician order.
- Uses two patient identifiers with proper labeling.
- Conducts blood glucose monitoring.
- Assists with transporting patients into and out of the department to other areas of the hospital for tests.
- Under supervision of physician or nurse, may transport patients between the Emergency Department and monitored units on medication.
- Transports medications to and from pharmacy and within the unit along with transporting blood products to and from Blood Bank.
- Provides safety and suicide monitoring.
- Assists patients with daily activities including undressing and dressing as well as lifting and positioning them to complete certain procedures.
- Coordinates relations between care providers, patients, and visitors.
- Promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
- May access approved medications by physician order for administration by the physician.
- May administer approved medications to a patient during a resuscitation with the physician present.

Position Details
- Full-time position (36 hours weekly).
- 7 PM - 7:30 AM shift.
- Every other weekend and holiday rotation required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required.
- Certification(s) and License(s): Certified Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic; Basic Life Support Certification.
