    IR Tech

    Multiple 13-week contracts are available for IR Techs in Milwaukee, WI. Majority of shifts are 10-hour day shifts, with some on-call and weekend rotations required. Local or travel applicants are welcome.

    Job Description

    • Proficient in basic to advanced IR procedures
    • Department is staffed 24/7
    • All adults, no pediatrics
    • General IR procedures include kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, central line/PICCs/ports, fistulograms, IVC filter, nephrostomy tubes, nephroureteral stents, peripheral leg cases, coil embolization, thoracentesis/paracentesis; CT room supported by IR - cryo procedures, CT biopsies, drains, etc.; AAA intervention experience preferred
    • Neuro IR (required): strokes, DSA, embolization, WADA test, spinal angiograms
    • Average of 40-50 patients seen per day

    Requirements

    • Required Licensure and Certifications: ARRT, BLS; WI License
    • Skills required: Scrubbing and panning simultaneously, experience with general IR cases
    • Comfortable with charging/coding for procedures preferred but not required

    Support on the Unit

    • Receptionist/HUC: One coordinator
    • Lead: Two leads
    • Tech specialists
    • Imaging Assistant/Transporter: Two IAs
    • Respiratory Therapy: 24/7
    • Hospitalist: 24/7
    • CNA/Transporter: Yes, available 24/7; could help transport own patients

    Technology/Equipment

    • EMR: EPIC
    • IV pumps: Alaris
    • Medication dispensing: Pyxis
    • PACS: Change Healthcare
    • Equipment used: Siemens and GE equipment - experience preferred
    • Injector: MedRad
    • Other equipment (experience not required): IVUS, Ultrasound (GE), Laser, Bovie for some port removals, Angiojet

    Orientation and Scheduling

    • Orientation: Will orient with a preceptor for 1-2 weeks and be checked off
    • Weekend rotation: On-call schedule includes weekday call (Monday - Thursday) - typically 1 call shift per week, EOS until following day at 0700; weekend call (Friday-Sunday) - once every 5th weekend, EOS Friday until Monday at 0700
    • Travelers will only take Neuro Call if they have Neuro experience; otherwise, they will take General IR call. Travelers with both Neuro IR and General IR experience may be asked to take both depending on need.
    • Response time for call: 30 minutes
    • Holiday expectations: No holidays currently, but subject to change (would be call only)
    • RTO approval: Up to 7 days can be approved
