    Locum Tenens Pulmonary & Critical Care Physician

    Are you a dedicated and highly skilled physician passionate about providing comprehensive care to patients with pulmonary and critical care needs? We're searching for a qualified physician to join our team in a growing community near Hiltons, VA. This ongoing locum tenens opportunity offers the chance to make a significant impact, starting as soon as possible (ASAP).

    Job Description

    • Deliver comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care to a diverse adult patient population with a variety of pulmonary and critical care conditions.
    • Conduct thorough patient history and physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop effective treatment plans.
    • Perform bronchoscopies and EBUS (endobronchial ultrasound) procedures to diagnose and manage lung diseases.
    • Manage patients requiring mechanical ventilation, ensuring optimal respiratory support and ventilator settings.
    • Collaborate with referring physicians, specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated patient care.
    • Round on patients regularly in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, monitoring progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed.
    • Document medical records accurately and efficiently within the Athena and Meditech electronic medical record systems.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in pulmonary and critical care medicine and participate in ongoing professional development activities.

    Requirements

    • Active and unrestricted Virginia (VA) medical license is required.
    • Board eligibility in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine is preferred, but applications from physicians with eligibility in Internal Medicine will be considered.
    • Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical pulmonary and critical care setting is preferred.
    • Strong clinical judgment, decision-making skills, and a comprehensive knowledge base in pulmonary and critical care medicine.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients, families, and healthcare teams in a high-pressure environment.
    • Demonstrated commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality patient care.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment with both scheduled clinic hours and call coverage.
    • Proficient in performing bronchoscopies and EBUS procedures.
    • Experience managing patients on ventilators.
