This locum tenens opportunity for a Psychiatrist is available near Durham, NC. The position offers a night shift schedule with a duration of 13 weeks. Join a supportive team and provide crucial psychiatric care to adult or child/adolescent inpatients.
Job Description

Orientation:
- Will need 2 days of orienting prior to the first scheduled shift.
- Support staff: Varies per site.
- Number of patients per day: Varies per site.
- Hospital bed size: Adult Inpatient (50 beds) OR Child/Adolescent Inpatient (30 beds).
- Credentialing timeline: 60-90 days.
- Travel: Will pay.
- Vaccine Requirements: Covid + Booster.
Additional Job Specifics:
- On weekdays, the Adult Unit is staffed with 2 MDs, 2 APPs, and Residents. On weekends, the Adult Unit is staffed with 1 MD, 2 APPs, and Residents.
- Adult Unit sign-out: You will receive and provide sign-out on the psychiatry communication column on the epic census.
- Supervision: You must see and staff each patient the residents are assigned. You do not have to see each patient assigned to the APP, but you must staff each of their patients.
- For patients admitted as IVC (Involuntary Commitment):
- Complete the 2nd exam within 24 hours of admit to the unit.
- For discharged patients, fax the rescind IVC form for each IVC patient to inform the court of their discharge.
- For patients admitted as voluntary but IVC during their admission, complete the first petition for IVC, and have another provider (or resident) complete the 2nd evaluation after the patient has been served by the sheriff.
