HHSC is seeking a Physician to join an interdisciplinary team of professionals to provide clinical care and leadership to Corpus Christi State Supported Living Center (SSLC). As Medical Director, you will work with a dynamic group of staff and professionals who are dedicated to providing supports and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is a team environment where staff clinicians collaborate to provide comprehensive care and services.

Job Description

• Manage, coordinate, and direct all medical services including psychiatric, dental, pharmaceutical, and laboratory work at the SSLC.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality medical services to individuals with intellectual disabilities served by SSLCs.
• Oversee and direct the diagnoses and treatment of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who also have complex medical, psychiatric, and/or behavioral health needs.
• Direct the administration of specialized medical treatments and procedures.
• Delegate portions of these duties to persons under supervision while maintaining overall responsibility for the medical care of the individuals at the SSLC.
• Participate in and oversee medical staff participation in the treatment team process.
• Directly supervise staff Physicians, Advanced Nurse Practitioners (APRN), Physician Assistant(s), Pharmacist(s), Dentist(s), Psychiatrist(s), and oversee contracted staff in these positions.
• Serve as a primary care physician for a smaller caseload when needed.
• Assist other medical staff with complex cases.
• Provide and coordinate treatment to employees injured in the course and scope of employment.
• Ensure optimum performance of the medical services department toward full compliance with the terms of the Department of Justice (DOJ) Settlement Agreement.
• Construct the on-call duty schedule and share on-call duty with other qualified medical staff.
• Work under minimal supervision of the SSLC Director with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
