Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
Looking for NICU Level II and III NPs who are licensed in Texas and have a DEA (or easily transferrable one) to work in the Dallas/Ft Worth area for 24-hour shift coverage. Needs will start in September.
Job Description
- Must be willing to work at any of the 7 locations (McKinney, Alliance, Las Colinas, Frisco, Arlington, Plano, Lewisville) and will need to credential for all 7 locations.
- Procedures to be performed: neonatal intubations, umbilical line placement, needle chest thoracentesis, neonatal delivery attendance, and resuscitation.
- Daily shift requirements: 24-hour in-house coverage for Level 3 NICU coverage, rounding and managing NICU infants plus attendance of high-risk deliveries and rounding in newborns. Collaboration with a neonatologist who rounds daily, provides out-of-house call, and comes in to assist with the management of critical infants as needed.
- Daily patient volume: NICU census may vary from 4-5 up to 20, depending upon the site. Newborn census may vary from 4-5 up to 18, depending upon the site.
- Support staff includes nursing, respiratory therapy, therapies; some sites have Pediatric Nurse Practitioners to assist with daily rounding on newborns.
Requirements
- Must be Board Certified as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner by the NCC (National Certification Corporation).
- Minimum of 2 years experience as an APRN, NNP-BC.
- Current NRP certification (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) and BLS required.
- Current DEA.
- Case logs for endotracheal intubations and umbilical line placements for the previous 12-18 months. If available, case logs for needle thoracentesis, chest tubes, lumbar puncture, PAL, and PICC lines.

- Goal is 24-hour shifts. Extended shifts may be approved for 36-48 hours on an individual site basis and as needed for extenuating circumstances.
