    About Hiawatha HomeCare

Karen Seifert founded Hiawatha HomeCare in 1988, but it was the birth of her son, Michael, that inspired the birth of Hiawatha HomeCare. Michael Seifert was born in 1985 with a rare & serious condition that kept him in the hospital for much of his 1st year of life. When he was a year old, Michael's doctors said he would spend the rest of his short life in the ICU but Karen disagreed. So, Michael came home on life support.

In 2023, Michael passed away after a brief illness. Michael's memory will be forever woven into the fabric of our agency, and his story serves as a daily reminder of the power of "Home Care from the Heart."
