    School-Based Therapist

    Hillcrest has teamed up with the Dubuque Community School District to find a School-Based Therapist! At Hillcrest Family Services, we value compassion, trust, collaboration, and community involvement in everything we do, and we look for friendly, innovative employees who share those values.

    Job Description

    • Provide therapy to children, ages 5-17, within the school setting to promote optimum brain health and improve social and educational functioning.
    • Utilize unique skills and evidence-based or evidence-researched treatment modalities to meet the needs of the student referred for services.
    • Complete an initial assessment, diagnostic summary, and other assessments as required.
    • Develop a person-centered treatment plan.
    • Complete progress notes within 24 hours of service delivery.
    • Engage in discharge planning and make referrals for additional services as needed.
    • Collaborate with other professionals involved with clients when appropriate.

    Requirements

    • Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a closely related field.
    • Iowa licensed to practice or eligible and willing to become licensed as a Mental Health Counselor or Independent Social Worker.
    • Effective counseling and diagnosing skills, with proficient knowledge of the impact of trauma.
    • Proficiency in time management and EHR documentation.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cooperatively with staff and other service providers and interface effectively and sensitively with students/families.
    • Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age and diagnosis of students served.
    • Highly professional presentation and manner consistent with school standards and Hillcrest policies.
    • Ability to assist school staff in identifying effective strategies to de-escalate or avoid triggering a student.
    • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position.
    • Willingness to drive to different locations within the community.
