Emergency Services Clinician
Join our team as an Emergency Services Clinician (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Resident) in Lynchburg, VA. This full-time position offers a 20% annual stipend in addition to the regular salary and provides an opportunity to make a significant impact in the community through crisis intervention services.
Job Description
- Respond to requests from the agency and the community for crisis intervention services, including limited-term crisis intervention information and referral to community resources.
- Conduct pre-admission screening for inpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment.
- Develop working relationships with area hospitals, schools, social services, law enforcement, and other community partners by actively providing consultation, support, and education.
Requirements
- Master's Degree from a program that prepares individuals to practice counseling (60-hr Master's Program) from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency.
- No experience required; experience with adults in an outpatient setting is preferred.
- Related credentials: Resident in Professional Counseling, Supervisee in Clinical Social Work, Resident in Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy, Resident in Substance Abuse Treatment, or eligibility to apply for residency.
- New hires will be expected to apply for clinical supervision and residency within 30 days of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), emergency interventions, family, group, and individual therapies, psychosocial education, risk assessments, sex offender treatment, and substance abuse interventions.
- Knowledge of community mental health and public health to provide advocacy and enhance treatment access to community resources.
- Knowledge of principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, intellectual disabilities, and substance abuse.
- Knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications and treatments.
- Ability to drive and possess a valid driver's license; may be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite and transport clients.
- Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training, including verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques as needed.
