    Cardiothoracic Surgeon

    Job Description:

    • Care for a wide array of patients performing surgical procedures on the heart, lungs, and other thoracic organs
    • Diagnose and treat diseases of these organs
    • Examine, make diagnosis, evaluate, review medical history, and advise patients on the risk involved with having surgery
    • Perform surgical procedures to correct, improve, and remove heart, lungs, and other thoracic problems
    • Follow established surgical techniques during surgery
    • Prescribe preoperative and postoperative treatment and procedures
    • Ensure operating rooms, all equipment, and instruments are sterile
    • Direct and coordinate activities of hospital staff for proper patient care
    • Supervise all treatment prior to and post-surgery and identify associated risks
    • Maintain the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital Associations Bill of Rights for patients
    • Plan and execute illness & disease prevention and promote good health

    Requirements:

    • Current Internal Medicine Doctor license in state of practice required
    • Board certification required
    • At least five (5) plus years of surgery residency
    • Stable work history as Cardiothoracic Surgeon
    • Ability to communicate information in layman terms to patients and/or their families
    • Compassionate and warm towards patients
    • Possesses good bedside manner and has excellent listening skills
