    Job Description:

    • Examine, make diagnoses, evaluate, review medical history, and advise patients on the risks involved with having surgery.
    • Perform surgical procedures to prevent or correct injury, disease, deformities, and patient function while adhering to regulatory and ethical protocols.
    • Follow established surgical techniques during surgery.
    • Prescribe preoperative and postoperative treatments and procedures.
    • Ensure the operating room, all equipment, and instruments are sterile.
    • Direct and coordinate activities of hospital staff for proper patient care.
    • Supervise all treatment prior to and post-surgery, and identify associated risks.
    • Maintain the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital Association's Bill of Rights for patients.
    • Plan and execute illness & disease prevention and promote good health.

    Requirements:

    • Current medical license in state of practice required.
    • Certification required from the American Board of Medical Specialties.
    • Five (5) plus years of residency training in general surgery.
    • Excellent manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and visuospatial awareness.
    • Strong clinical diagnostic skills.
    • Commitment to a high standard of care through the promotion and maintenance of overall health.
    • Capacity to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to communicate information in layman terms to patients and/or their families.
    • Continue research into scientific studies and complete frequent Maintenance of Certification (MOC) programs to ensure ongoing proficiency.
