Locum Pathologist

Location: Central Mississippi

Job Description:

• Seeking 2-3 locum Pathologists for consistent weekday coverage starting in January 2025
• Open to candidates with 1-4 weeks of consistent availability per month
• Schedule: Monday - Friday (7:30 AM - 5 PM) with a minimum of 1 weekend/month of call and 3-5 weeknights of call/month
• Flexible hours

Requirements:

• Active and unrestricted Mississippi medical license required (will consider active IMLC candidates)
• Active Board Certification (AP/CP) required
• Candidates should be boarded and/or experienced with AP/CP & Surgical Pathology
• Preference for candidates with experience and/or training in Cytology & Hematopathology (Bone Marrows), though not required

Assignment Details:

• Anticipated cases: GI biopsies, GYN biopsies, skin biopsies, bladder biopsies, laryngeal biopsies, breast biopsies, lung biopsies (for tumor), appendix, tonsils, gallbladders, hernias, mastectomies, colon resections, hysterectomies, amputations, placentas, peripheral blood smear reviews, thyroids, nephrectomies, orchiectomies, prostatectomies, large cancer resections, Whipples, and neuropathology
• Cytology cases include non-gyn, gyn & FNAs
• No autopsies; case volume averages between 60-100 cases per day split among all Pathologists
• Group information: 3 other FTE pathologists, 1-2 PAs, 5 histotechs, 2 cyto techs, and 3 Path Lab Support personnel
• Offsite transcriptionists available with a typical TAT of 2 hours or less
• PAs handle grossing, with cytology quick stains assessed by cytotechs
