    Location: Fremont, CA, US

    Job Description:

    • Manages 24-hour departments providing patient care services
    • Ensures staff provide high quality, accessible, cost-effective care, and patient-focused services across the continuum
    • Develops and maintains clinical standards of care and practice; responsible for all resource budgeting, selection, and development

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Manages the operations of 24-hour departments at multiple locations
    • Establishes, implements, and maintains patient care and service standards
    • Designs and evaluates processes to improve systems and patient care results
    • Develops and monitors budgets for the use of human and material resources
    • Determines the appropriate staff mix for the department
    • Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures
    • Oversees and develops standards of care and practice

    Experience:

    • Minimum four (4) years of clinical nursing experience related to clinical area of specialization
    • Four (4) years of management, supervisory, or leadership experience

    Education:

    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or Master's Degree in Nursing through a direct entry MSN program

    License, Certification, Registration:

    • Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire
    • Basic Life Support

    Additional Requirements:

    • Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and local, state, federal regulations
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills
    • ACLS or PALS certification may be required for specific departments
    • National Certification preferred within 1 year of hire
    • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Two (2) years of management experience preferred
    • One (1) year of Magnet/shared governance experience preferred
    • One (1) year of managing in a bargaining environment preferred
    • Master's degree preferred: MSN, MHA, or MBA level and/or CNOR designation
    • Experience with scheduling teams helpful
    • Strong preference for experience in a union environment

    Must Have:

    • BSN or higher
    • Recent experience as an OR RN (inpatient OR experience required)
    • 3-5 years as an Assistant Nurse Manager or four years as Department Manager
    • Ability to remain calm under pressure, strong communicator, able to train newer nurses
