    Job Description:

    • Responsible for independent performance of moderate and highly complex testing to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease
    • Demonstrate practical knowledge, theoretical understanding, and critical thinking skills in clinical areas
    • Operate and maintain various complex scientific equipment
    • Troubleshoot and repair selected instrumentation
    • Recognize quality control deviations and communicate problems to management, pathologists, and other staff
    • Assist with problem resolutions
    • May assume charge responsibilities including workflow monitoring and first-line response for problem solving
    • Scope of care includes direct patient contact procedures such as phlebotomy, pediatric sweat chloride testing, and assistance with bone marrow collections
    • Support a self-directed laboratory team concept with a positive attitude and high-quality work standards
    • Provide didactic and clinical technique instructional training and competency assessments to new team members and students

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biology or biological science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
    • Successful completion of an official military medical laboratory procedures course or meet CLIA Standard; Testing personnel qualification 42CFR493.1423 for moderate complexity testing and 42CFR493.1489 for high complexity testing
    • Certification by the ASCP, AMT, AABB, or other comparable organization preferred
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
