    Cytotechnologist

    Job Description

    • Prepare non-GYN and GYN specimens for evaluation following established protocols to maintain specimen integrity.
    • Attend off-site fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures and evaluate specimen cellularity for adequacy when required.
    • Utilize a microscope to manually screen slides for cellular changes caused by the disease process and provide diagnosis.
    • Review and sign-out quality control and patient results promptly to expedite results for stat and rush cases.
    • Screen non-GYN slides for primary diagnosis and triage slides for further review by pathologists.
    • Troubleshoot test anomalies and system problems logically to ensure accurate tests.
    • Perform quality control checks and equipment maintenance to uphold high standards.
    • Maintain a clean and safe work environment to uphold professionalism and safety culture.
    • Conduct routine maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning.
    • Troubleshoot basic instrumentation, chemicals, reagents, stains, solutions, and technical problems as required.
    • Collaborate with the team to maintain adequate reagent and supply inventory levels at all times.
    • Participate in the analysis of NYSDOH and CAP PT samples as required.
    • Engage in continuing education programs as mandated.
    • Adhere to infection control practices, including wearing appropriate safety equipment.
    • Perform other tasks as necessary.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution or equivalent required.
    • Licensed by New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Cytotechnologist.
    • Minimum of 2 - 5 years work experience preferred.
    • ASCP certification preferred.

    Benefits

    • Pay range: $100k - $115k+/annual
