    Radiology/CT Technologist (Will Train in CT!)

    Job Description

    • Apply roentgen rays safely to patients for diagnostic purposes upon the request of a physician. Workload is expected to be 60% in Radiology and 40% in Cat Scan, but this may vary depending upon volumes.
    • Use correct technical parameters and position patients accurately to produce images as prescribed by a physician.
    • Correctly send images to PACS, including all appropriate scanned paperwork and comparison exams.
    • Share in call status to provide "around the clock" coverage.
    • Explain procedures to each patient prior to exams.
    • Provide for patient privacy, comfort, and safety.
    • Effectively communicate exam preparations and scheduling needs with the hospital staff.
    • Provide immobilization devices as required.
    • Administer drugs or chemical mixtures orally or as enemas to render organs opaque.
    • Provide radiation protection as needed per exam.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and can identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.
    • Transport patients to and from waiting areas and/or patient rooms, assuming responsibility for their safety.
    • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness during procedures.
    • May prepare image CDs for patients.

    Requirements

    • Completion of formal radiological technology training in an AMA approved school.
    • Current WA State Radiologic Technologist Certification.
    • Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiological Technologists) registration.
    • Current CT Certification from the ARRT.
    • Current BLS Certification.

    Skills/Qualifications

    • Technologists should have the correct understanding of Radiology and CT equipment, physics, and Human Anatomy and Physiology to produce accurate images.
    • Can apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with patients and co-workers.
