    Community Overview

    Mescalero, New Mexico, is home to the Mescalero tribe's mountainous lands, presenting exciting opportunities for outdoor adventures. The tribe recently opened the 50,000-square-foot Casino Apache Travel Center on U.S. 70 about a mile west of Ruidoso.

    The closest major airport to Mescalero, New Mexico, is the Roswell International Airport, approximately an hour and a half away. This airport is supported by American Airlines.

    About the Facility

    The Mescalero Service Unit is located in Mescalero, New Mexico. The 13-bed Mescalero Indian Hospital provides both inpatient and outpatient services, supplemented by several field health programs, some of which are conducted by the Mescalero Tribe itself. Services include Laboratory, Radiology, Dentistry, Optometry, Outpatient Care, Inpatient Care, Diabetic Clinic, Women's Health Clinic, Behavioral Health, and Pain Clinic.

    Job Description

    • Participate directly in the medical care of patients, performing functions as delineated by the medical staff privileging process.
    • Adhere to the scope of work and accept work assignments from the Clinical Director as necessary.
    • Provide direct care/services to pediatric, geriatric, adolescent, and adult patients; patient care will involve contact with outpatient COVID patients in the urgent care setting, as well as other potential infectious contacts expectable in a healthcare clinic.
    • Provide comprehensive therapeutic and preventative health services to individual COVID positive patients, family members, and patient groups in a home or community-based setting as a primary health resource and physician extender.
    • Assess and diagnose needs to produce a plan of action to meet identified needs by providing medical health services to individuals and families, including interpretations of x-ray imaging results and laboratory test results and findings.
    • Apply Medical Doctor skills in all phases of health care services.
    • Assist with community outreach activity in the local area.
    • Make decisions concerning medical care needs of patients with physicians and designated consultants.
    • Provide lifesaving and support measures in emergency situations.
    • Provide thorough and concise written documentation of evaluations, treatment, active orders, medications, and referrals through the Electronic Health Record in a timely manner.

    Requirements

    • Maintain an active license as a Medical Doctor in this state or any other state of the United States throughout the duration of this contract.
    • Possess and maintain Board Certification or be Board Eligible throughout the duration of this contract.
    • Must have BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
